Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Energy Bites

By Carley Schweet

These bites are the perfect pick-me-up after a busy day with clients, a tough gym session, or a day spent running around town. Plus, they keep well and are easy to throw in your bag or purse as you’re running out the door!

Integrative Nutrition taught me that it’s so important to nourish yourself, especially while giving so much energy to others. Since these are chock full of fiber, healthy fat, and protein, these simple little bites keep me nourished, energized, and full, and ensure that I will show up and be present when needed. Check out my video recipe for these bites on YouTube!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Energy Bites

Ingredients:

2 cups rolled oats

2 ripe bananas, peeled

1/4 cup natural almond butter (I love the 365 Whole Food brand because there’s no sneaky added sugars)

2 tbsp. chocolate chips (I used dairy, soy, junk-free mini chips from Enjoy Life)

1 1/2 tbsp. maple syrup (Grade A preferred)

1 tbsp. flax seed

1 tsp. organic butter extract (Or sub in almond or vanilla extract if you don’t have butter extract on hand)

1 tsp. cinnamon

Pinch of sea salt

Directions:

1. Add bananas to mixing bowl and mash with fork

2. Add all other ingredients to bowl, mix and continue mashing banana

3. Keep mixing until all ingredients are fully incorporated

4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then roll bites into small balls and place on baking sheet

5. Place in freezer for one hour or until firm

6. Enjoy!

    2. Tammy, I was wondering the same! You can see in the video that the oats are dry and uncooked when she tosses them into the mix. Enjoy!
